Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests - Tennessee

Press Release for June 9, 2006

9th Lawsuit filed against pedophile ex-priest, Harry E. Monroe

Diocese fails to notify public of Nashville about presence of accused priest

Survivors of clergy sexual abuse want the facts revealed

SNAP seeks copy of notification of interstate transfer of Monroe

Out-of-state pedophile clergy? In-state pedophile clergy? Survivors want the truth!

How long has Harry E. Monroe been living in Nashville?  Did he move here when he left the priesthood around 1984?  Does the Nashville public know of the 9 (and counting) lawsuits against him for sexual abuse?  These and other issue will be explored in the press conference.

What:  Sidewalk Press conference

Who:  Survivors of clergy sexual abuse and members of SNAP (Survivors Network of those Abuse by Priests)

When:  1:30 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2006, in Nashville, Tennessee

Where:  Centennial Medical Center, 23rd and Patterson, in front of the Physicians Medical Plaza.  Click here for map.

Why:  SNAP leaders will hold a sidewalk press conference to reveal information about Harry E. Monroe.

Background information on Harry Monroe is also available at www.rememberthesurvivors.com.  Links to articles about the lawsuits against Harry E. Monroe are located at this website.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:  Should anyone be surprised that we were not told about accused ex-priest Harry Monroe by the diocese of Nashville?  After all, 18 priests across Tennessee were reported to the John Jay study in 2003 to be pedophiles, but we have not been told a single name!  Who are the “SECRET 18”? (The Nashville Diocese knows 7.)  If the people won’t demand the truth, will the media demand to know?
